[Notice] Overseas Remittance Policy Changes Effective January 1, 2026 – Do you have your passport?

Are you a foreigner living in Korea?

Then you should definitely pay attention to this.

Starting January 1, 2026, the Overseas Remittance Integration System (ORIS) will be implemented.

The purpose of the system is to to promote free and responsible foreign exchange transactions.

For foreign nationals, a passport number will be used as the unique identification number in ORIS.

Therefore, from January 1 2026, a passport verification will be required in order to use international remittance services.

This verification is an additional and is separate step from identity verification (real-name verification).

Even if you are already a WireBarley member, if you are a foreign national, you must complete passport verification again.

Passport verification steps

1. Open the WireBarley app and log in

2. Tap the “Send” button

3. Follow the passport verification instructions and take a photo of the passport photo page

You can use international remittance services only after passport verification is completed.

Important notes

1. Check your passport validity period.

- Expired passports cannot be verified.

- If your passport is nearing its expiration date, we recommend renewing it in advance.

2. When taking a photo of your passport:

- Take a picture of the passport photo page.

- Make sure no glare, shadow, or fingers is covering the page.

Q. Do Korean nationals also need verification?

A. No. This does not apply to Korean nationals.

Q. When can I start verification?

A. You can complete verification in advance starting now by tapping “Send” in the WireBarley app.
